The #100MumsCampaign is a nonjudgmental platform for mothers to share their true stories about motherhood that they may be otherwise afraid to talk about openly. We want mothers to understand how powerful it is to show their vulnerability to the world. There is nothing to be ashamed of when it comes being part of the “100 Mums”. We encourage mothers to be proud of their own stories and look to motherhood in an inspiring way.

Meet our #001mum & read her story of the "Secret of Motherhood"

001 Mum - Bonnie

Bonnie, aged 42, was born and raised in NYC, and now lives in Hong Kong. She is mum to 2 beautiful children and teaches English at the Hong Kong International School.

Her Story:
The truth is, most of my body has not been the same since becoming a mom. That is what bothers me most about my body after pregnancy. My legs have more veins, my breasts are saggier, my feet are now a half size bigger, and my mid section forms more than just one roll when I sit down. The worst part is my stomach and midsection. My fat pants have become my trusty everyday pants. Dresses don’t fit like they had before, and my closet of carefully selected gorgeous pieces now sits and gathers dust only to be flipped through every so often when I have to find something to wear to a fancy birthday dinner.

This will be our 3rd summer stuck in Hong Kong. I dread it because that means pool days every day. I hate being in my bathing suit because of my stomach and legs. They are by far the worst. There are never any other moms at the pool that look like I do. I remember last summer at the beginning of the summer, there was a heavily pregnant mom at the pool one day. A month later, she came back to the pool looking like she was never pregnant and had shed all of her pregnancy weight. That is every mom at my building’s pool. Here I am in my shorts and "slimming magic" tankini top because I am too embarrassed to show the back of my legs and butt and let my stomach show in two pieces. It was hard a reality check that I am no longer the fit 30 years old I used to be.
